There are a variety of options regarding fees and payments for our residential aged care services as directed by Services Australia and the Australian government.
The options do depend on your situation and you can discuss them with our Clinical Director for more clarification.
The components for residential aged care payments
Component 1: Basic Daily Care Fee
The basic daily care fee is set by Services Australia and changes every 6 months in line with the pension. This fee is calculated at 85% of a resident's pension.
Component 2: A RAD Deposit
A RAD is a refundable accommodation deposit.
How it works
The RAD is paid when the resident enters the aged care facility and is refunded back to the family once the room is no longer required. A full RAD deposit amount is $499,000 and some families choose to pay a part RAD and part Means-Tested Care Fee.
Component 3: Means-Tested Care Fee
With this fee, a resident has an assessment through Services Australia (Centrelink) and fees range according to a resident's financial situation which allows you to choose which assets you want to use to cover costs.
