Providing care since 1974

The story of Forest View Care

From humble beginnings in 1974 to our care services today, we continue providing personalised care, engaging activities, & comfortable living spaces in Childers & surrounds.

Forest View Childers began in 1974, driven by a community-recognised need for supportive accommodation for the elderly. The formation of the Forest View Childers Inc. Management Committee marked the inception of a vision that would grow and evolve to meet the changing needs of our community’s older population.

In 1979, we proudly opened the first Retirement Village Units, laying the foundation for a comprehensive aged-care environment. Over the years, the village expanded to include 34 Units, complete with a Village Hall, BBQ area, and a Palliative Care House, offering a blend of rental and licensed units tailored to diverse needs and preferences.

The significant milestone in our journey came in 1993 with the official opening of the Forest View Aged Care Facility. Initially comprising 24 rooms, including a respite room for short-term stays, it marked our commitment to providing a continuum of care. Promoting the philosophy of ageing-in-place, the facility now accommodates 30 private ensuite rooms, ensuring a personalised and dignified living experience for each resident.

1997 saw the commencement of the Forest View Home Care Consumer Directed Care Packages. This initiative extended our care beyond our facilities, delivering support to individuals in their own homes within the Childers community and surrounding districts, including Woodgate and Buxton.

Where we are today

Today, our staff is made up of more than 58 passionate individuals, including longstanding members who have dedicated over 20 years to our mission - a commitment to our residents' quality of life.

Over the years we've developed a deep connection and mutual respect between Forest View Care and the residents of Childers, including unwavering support from the town which has been instrumental in our growth. Notable contributions such as the community-funded medical transport bus are one of many ways the community continue to support the work we do.
